Nyx Leibiger

is a lifelong musician and Mainer who found a passion for music early in life, and started piano at age 4, and continued with additional instruments all throughout school. They started performing professionally with a vaudeville troupe in the 2010s, which is when they switched their main instrument to accordion. This is also where they developed an interest and skill set in Middle Eastern music to accompany dancers. They started their own pirate-themed folk group, Shank Painters, in 2016, and continue to tour, compose, and record all over the Northeast at faires, festivals, and more. They have also played in punk bands, Balkan groups, jazz bands, and more.

Nyx completed their Master’s in Education in 2023, and is a big believer in using contemporary and student-centered pedagogy to cater to the unique needs of each student. They have worked with students of all ages and needs, and have a great deal of experience with English language learners and neurodivergent students.
